Who we are

Tao Education is a tutoring service based in London, United Kingdom. It's a trading name of Scolari Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16748776), with its registered office at 41 Anlaby Road, Teddington, TW11 0PB.

Scolari Limited is the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at hello@taoeducation.co.uk about anything on this page.

What we collect when you enquire

The enquiry form is the only place this site asks for your details. What you type is sent to us as an email. There's no account to create, and no database of enquiries behind this site.

We use it to reply to you, to match a tutor to what you need, and, if a referral link brought you here, to credit the family who referred you.

• Your name and email address
• The programme or level, the subjects, and any package you selected
• A preferred tutor, if you chose one
• Whatever you write in the message field
• The name and email of whoever referred you, if you arrived through a referral link

Booking a call or messaging us

The booking links take you to Calendly, who host our consultation scheduling. If you follow one straight after sending an enquiry, your name and email are passed along so the booking form arrives already filled in. Calendly handles that booking under its own privacy policy.

The WhatsApp button opens a chat with us in WhatsApp with your enquiry already typed. Nothing is sent until you press send, and WhatsApp handles that conversation under its own privacy policy.

Cookies and analytics

Two analytics services run on this site, and they aren't treated the same way.

PostHog processes its data on servers in the European Union. The Google tags are covered by Google's own privacy policy.

• PostHog: product analytics, error reports, and recordings of how pages and the enquiry form are used. It runs only if you accept the cookie banner. Decline, and PostHog stores nothing on your device and sends us nothing.
• Google Analytics and Google Ads: visitor measurement and advertising conversion tracking. These load on every visit and aren't covered by the banner.

What this site stores on your device

The first three are set by this site and stay in your browser. The referral is the exception: when you send an enquiry it goes with it, so we know who to credit.

• tao-consent: your answer to the cookie banner, kept for six months
• tao-lang: whether you're reading in English or Chinese
• tao-referral: the referral link you arrived through, kept for 30 days
• If you accept analytics, PostHog sets its own storage to recognise a returning visitor
• The Google tags set their own cookies

Who else sees your information

We don't sell your information, and we pass nothing to a tutor beyond what arranging your tutoring needs.

• Resend: delivers the enquiry email, from the EU (Ireland).
• Calendly: only if you book a consultation call.
• WhatsApp: only if you message us there.
• PostHog: only if you accepted analytics. EU servers.
• Google: analytics and advertising measurement.
• Vercel: hosts this website and serves its pages.

How long we keep it

Enquiries reach us as email and stay in the hello@ mailbox while we're in touch with you about tutoring, and for no more than two years after our last exchange. Ask us to delete yours sooner and we will.

Analytics data is held by PostHog and Google under their own retention settings.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email hello@taoeducation.co.uk and we'll answer within one month.

If our answer doesn't satisfy you, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

Tutoring usually concerns a child's education, but this site is meant for parents and guardians, and for tutors applying to join us. Please don't send us more about a child through the form than arranging their tutoring needs.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
